A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to attend an amazing blogger event held by the lovely people at The Body Shop, celebrating the launch of their upcoming Brazil nut range.

We were really lucky to meet a lovely man called Gaston Vizcarra, who supplies all of the Community Fair Trade Brazil Nut Oil used in more than 100 TBS products. He was honestly such an inspirational person, and I loved hearing about all of the work he does back in Peru and all of his stories from the jungle – seriously!

The greatest thing about Gaston is that he is so passionate about making sure that the people who work for his company are treated fairly and paid an adequate wage. As a consumer and TBS addict it’s nice to know that brands are working ethically and sourcing good quality products.

I absolutely love the range. It smells absolutely gorgeous and is perfect for my dry skin. Here’s a peek of some of the things that’ll be hitting stores on the 23rd April.

Body Butter: £13Creamy and incredibly rich, like all TBS butters. It’s so thick and moisturising, a perfect skin treat for the current cold spell!

Body Scrub: £12.50Just the thing for slothing off dead skin, especially before apply fake tan. The scrubby bits are really dense for a nice, intensive scrub!

Body Mist: £7.50TBS mists are ideal for topping up your scent during the day. I wasn’t keen on this at first but it’s definitely grown on me. Handbag staple, in fact.

Eau de toilette: £8.50Again, I wasn’t sure but it’s definitely grown on me. It’s quite a musky, ‘grown up’ scent but it’s cheap and cheerful, and a perfect day fragrance.

Beautifying oil: £9 – Undoubtedly my favourite item in the whole range. I can’t tell you how amazing it smells. I literally slather myself in this, and since it’s multiuse I pop a bit on my dry ends too!

The Body Shop Brazil Nut range (made with Gaston’s Brazil Nut Oil!) will hit shops on the 23rd April – does anything here take your fancy?

The Body Shop & LFW: Dans La Vie and Zeynep Tosun

I realise that this post is waaay overdue, but I’ve been really busy with uni – I seriously can’t wait for third year to be over!

Anyway, the beautiful people at The Body Shop invited me down to a few shows at London Fashion Week and I had an absolute blast. I’d never been to any LFW week shows before so it was a great experience, especially being there as a guest of my favourite shop!

I got to sit front row at both the Dans La Vie and Zeynep Tosun shows and I also got a chance to go backstage and check out the preparation that went into the show. TBS was a show sponsor so all of the products used on the models were from there. Unfortunately it was really busy back there so I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of the products, but it was like a Body Shop warehouse!

Before the show started we waited around in the media lounge, where The Body Shop had a really cool photobooth and station for you to get your makeup done.

What I Bought: Sleek Makeup Haul

Sleek is a brand that I haven’t really explored much even though it’s loved in the beauty blogosphere. Not because I don’t want to try it, on the contrary actually. But every time I head into a Superdrug store I find that the Sleek counter is really messy or hardly has any stock – it took me months to find a rose gold blush, and even then they only had one which I was buying as a gift. Anyway I digress.

Sleek was recently offering a 25% off code if you filled out a short survey for them, so I saw it was a perfect opportunity to indulge in a few things I’d been lusting over.

The colours look really washed out in this picture; they’re in fact a lot more vibrant than the picture appears. The middle colour is a fiery red, which is a colour I don’t really have in my collection, so that pretty much sold the palette for me.

I’ve actually been looking for this kit for months and every Superdrug I go into never has it in dark. I was reluctant to buy online as my skin tone is pretty dark and I wanted to swatch the contour shade, but I took the plunge anyway and I love it.

I finally have one! This was probably the highlight of my whole order. It’s a fantastic dupe for NARS Orgasm and it's the perfect summer blush for all skin tones.

Another dusky pink nude to add to the lipstick collection. Now that I have it I’m slightly on the fence about it but I think it’s a great nude for lighter skin tones.

My absolute favourite eyebrow pencil! I always use this to fill in my brows as it looks nice and natural and doesn’t scream “I’ve drawn on my eyebrows!”

I have no idea why I bought this. I’m sure I was watching a YouTube channel or admiring a makeup look on a blog that happened to feature this shade, as it’s not something I’d usually even think about buying. Hopefully I can find a use for it though!

I’m not a big gloss wearer anymore but I couldn’t help but put this in my basket. It applies as a cute, sheer pink with a nice subtle shine and it look great on top of the Liqueur lipstick.

So that’s my little Sleek haul, expect to see some reviews and proper swatches soon!
What are your favourite Sleek products?

Review: Avène Micellar Cleansing Lotion

Micellar cleansing waters have literally revolutionalised the way I remove my makeup. I always double cleanse at night and micellar lotions are the perfect second cleanse in my routine.

I love Avène. It’s an amazing brand and their products have done wonders for my skin recently so I had really high hopes for the Avène Micellar Lotion*. As with all Avène products, this micellar water is made using silica rich Avène Thermal Spring Water. It’s suitable for sensitive skin and removes makeup without irritating or altering the skin’s natural protective barrier.

Now honestly speaking this isn’t the best micellar water I’ve tried. It really doesn’t budge stubborn eye makeup and if like me you wear a medium/full coverage foundation then this won’t get remove it in its entirety. And this is me speaking after already washing my face, I’d hate to imagine what it’d be like if this was the only product I used to remove my makeup.

However it’s not all bad news. Although it doesn’t perform well as a makeup remover, it makes the perfect toner. It’s gentle and hydrating and makes my skin feel plump and refreshed after I use it. Since my skin is so unpredictable it’s important that I don’t use anything too strong in the morning and this is gentle but effective so gets a thumbs up from me.

Avène Micellar Lotion is available to buy from Boots, priced at £12.50/200ml. Have you tried this cleansing water before?
